About the Journal

Aims, scope, publishing standards, and institutional context.

The Journal

The Journal of Corporate and Financial Laws (JCFL) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Centre for Corporate Law, Governance & Financial Laws (CCLGFL) at National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi). JCFL serves as the Centre's flagship publication and provides a rigorous scholarly forum for legal research at the intersection of corporate governance, financial regulation, capital markets, insolvency, and commercial law.

The Journal was established to reflect the growing importance of corporate and financial legal scholarship in a rapidly changing regulatory and market environment. By bringing together scholars, practitioners, and policy thinkers across common law jurisdictions, JCFL aims to contribute meaningfully to the development of legal doctrine and regulatory design.

Aims & Scope

JCFL publishes original, rigorous, and policy-relevant legal scholarship across twelve defined research domains. The Journal welcomes doctrinal analysis, empirical legal studies, comparative jurisprudence, and policy-oriented research. It does not publish partisan advocacy or practitioner-only commentary that lacks a scholarly foundation.

Research areas of primary interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Corporate Law and Corporate Entity Doctrine
  • Corporate Governance and Board Accountability
  • Securities Regulation and Capital Market Law
  • Banking Law and Prudential Regulation
  • Insolvency, Bankruptcy, and Corporate Restructuring
  • Competition Law and Digital Market Regulation
  • Financial Regulation and Macroprudential Frameworks
  • FinTech, Digital Assets, and Emerging Financial Technologies
  • ESG, Sustainable Finance, and Corporate Responsibility
  • Mergers, Acquisitions, and Control Transactions
  • Commercial Law, Contractual Risk, and Dispute Resolution
  • Emerging Business and Platform Economy Regulation

JCFL has a particular interest in the Indian legal and regulatory context, while actively welcoming comparative perspectives from other common law and civil law jurisdictions.

Publishing Standards & Review Policy

JCFL operates a strict double-blind peer review process. All manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant area. The Editorial Board makes final publication decisions on the basis of peer reviewer reports and editorial assessment.

All citations must conform to the Bluebook 21st Edition standard. JCFL is published under a Diamond Open Access model. There are no subscription fees for readers and no article processing charges for authors.
